Hello guys, been a few years since i have been here playing. But i decided to install this wonderful mod on Mac and it took me a while to get it working.

Anyway heres a guide to make it easy for you all Mac guys :)

Download the game on Steam.

Download the Modification
Star Wars: Movie Battles II v1.3.1 download

Open Steam Folder.
> Right click on game Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
> Properties
> Local Files
> Browse Local Files

You will find the folder " Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy "
> Right click
> Show package contents

You will see folder
" Contents " and " installscript_osx.vdf "
> click and open Contents
> Move ALL FILES from the newly downloaded Modification folder ( mb2-v1-3 ) into " Contents " ( Equivalent of Game Data in MAC )

Go to folder " MB II "
Copy " z_MB_BaseAssets.pk3 " from MB II folder and paste into Base folder ( This will remove any bugs with models )
Remove the remaining " z_MB_BaseAssets.pk3 " in folder MB II

Download Jedi Academy MP Launcher
http://jkhub.org/files/file/1019-jedi-academy-mp-launcher-for-os-x/
> Open folder
> Move "JKJALaunch.app" into Jedi Academy folder ( Will appear beside " Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy " )
> Double click " JKJALaunch.app "

Choose Multiplayer.
> Go to SETUP
> Load MB II Mod

And finally
> Go to SETUP
> Game Options
> Turn " Allow Downloads " to OFF

You are done! Happy gaming :) See you on the servers.

( Instructions are still the same if .app is not shown after your files, it just depends on your settings )

* If you for some reason need to use the console the command is " SHIFT " + " < " for Mac

I think the problem is that you've copied the update MBII folder over the 1.3.1 folder, so you only have the update files. Install 1.3.1 again. Then take the files from the MBII folder in the 1.3.2 update and copy them to the MBII folder you've got from installing 1.3.1 - a few pk3s will need to be overwritten.

WOOT! This worked! Can't believe I can finally play this. Thanks redsaurus!!!! For others that are trying to use the mac, I will make a post.

I have a similar issue. I've just installed the 1.3.2 version, and I was able to play for a few hours. But now it crashes to desktop without any error message, just a 'send report to apple' one... Right after loading the map.
I can play it for some time on some servers, but it always crashes when I join AOD servers and most others or when a server changes maps. I can play in my country's server, but only when I'm the only player online, and it still crashes after loading if the server changes the map.
Any ideas? Sorry for my poor english.

Here's the crash log:

Im not sure why it wouldn't work now unless you changed some of your files, or the new star wars pack you bought is conflicting with it somehow. However, if you follow these instructions listed above, you should be able to play, EXCEPT... Since AOD wants to be all christmasy and put snow everywhere, they messed their server up somewhere along the line. I too cannot connect to the AOD Pandemonium server, but the rest are fine.

I can't see how the game pack would interfere with MB2, since JKJA is the only game actually installed in my mac. I did all steps listed below exactly for five times now:
  1. Download JKA on steam
  2. Download Halloween manual update ZIP (1.3.2) from news forum
  3. Extract 1.3.2 zip file, moving all files in it to contents file of the Steam JKA file
  4. No need to copy and remove BaseAssets file, cause it's no longer there in the 1.3.2 zip file anymore
  5. Download JKJA launcher and put it in the Jedi Academy folder, next to the app itself
  6. double click that and launch the multiplayer (along with the "+set fs_game MBII" start/command line option... allowing the mod to be loaded without going to setup and loading it manually)
  7. Make sure to copy the update files into the MBII folder, not copy the whole folder or else files will be missing.
I could play it normally for a day and a half, but then the crashes started. Is there anything else I can do? I really want to play this! =[

Thank you very much for your reply, Parker.

Which steps are you following again? Because under my post you need to download the 1.3.1 first, and put that into the contents folder. You still need to transfer the base assets pk3 as well. Also, you said you've done this multiple times, how have you deleted the jkja files?

Sorry, I thought I could just copy your list, but it's actually a little different.
Let me list that again:
  1. Download/install JKA on steam
  2. Download MB2 v1.3.1 and put it into the 'contents' folder
  3. Download Update 1.3.2, moving all files inside the 'MBII' folder into the one in 'contents', overwriting the files
  4. Move 'z_MB_BaseAssets.pk3' into 'base' folder and delete the original file on 'MBII'
  5. Download JKJA launcher and put it in 'Jedi Academy' folder, next to the 'Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy' app
  6. Open launcher and write "+set fs_game MBII" start/command line option (check 'save these options')
  7. Try to join a server and crash
I've deleted the whole Star Wars Jedi Academy folder at steamapps>common>* and then deleted local content in steam.

Update:
Now I realize the uninstall process was wrong. I haven't ever deleted the 'Jedi Academy' folder in username/library/applicationsupport.
I've deleted everything now, I'm waiting for the download to try it all again.

Thanks for your help, and once again, sorry about my poor english.

It looks like its working!!! There's no players in any server, so I'll see if it won't crash in a full server later today, but I could join all servers and play by myself!
This made my week! Sorry for troubling you guys with my stupidity, and thank you so very much for your help!

Thanks Parker!!!

Hey guys, I was able to get the mod to work but it only allows me to join one server every other server I try to join gives me an error message of not having a certain .pk3 which in my case is MBII_Mac.pk3. If anyone can help that would be great, thanks

Threepio, I just wanna make sure you've clicked the big source button in the top left of the server browser until its listed as internet. If you've done this and still no servers come up, go to Movie Battles II Server List and copy a server from there. Then in Moviebattles, open the console by pressing shift+~(couple of keys directly above the shift key) and type /connect and paste the ip address of the server you copied. The ip probably will paste some extra characters for some reason, at least it does for me, but it's easy to tell what belongs there, so just delete them from the end of the ip and hit enter. Hope this helped, sorry for not responding as quickly as usual.

I followed all the instructions, but whenever I try to join a server, it shows an error message saying something about missing files in my MBII folder making it impossible to join any server. Furthermore when i open JKJALaunch It only shows me the configuration menu which I cant change because the ok button is greyed out ..

How can I fix this ?
