I recommend @Apocalatypus to test it as well. Though I've checked gui setting on my non-steam jamp and it worked perfectly, switching stretched/not-stretched hud just during round. Anyway, any help is appreciated. There's no the whole crowd helping, and I have only one theory which may be wrong.

Since his hud looks like it should, I assume Catlord Meow! uses jamp. So what happens when you run mblauncher with jamp and "Steam connection" checked? Does your hud stretching? And did you try ?

Close error window, then open console (Shift + ~ aka Shift + `, or whatever key combination on mac), take a screenshot and post it here. Please specify what exactly servers you're trying connect to. I suspect you're missing some maps.
