Don't think mando rocket change was needed, personally: the suicidal, hide-behind-corner rockets will only work against idiots; good players will only succumb to such a tactic once, at most twice, a match. Balance should always assume competent play, and should be predicated on people playing with their teammates: if we're looking at rockets in a 1v1 lens, then we should be doing the same with every class (though, in reality, we shouldn't, as it's a team game).

Current implementation of rocket feels pretty clunky.

  • New: Many HUD elements are now customizable in the .menu files, allowing you much more freedom over their styling, positioning. More HUD elements will be made customizable later. The new ones supported are as follows:
    • Framerate Indicator
    • Radar
    • Timer - Also added a color blind indicator for the time winning team
    • Team Scores
    • Capture Progress Bar - Also added a small capture direction graphic.
    • Subtitles
    • Misc text items
    • Lagometer
    • Use Icon
    • Chatbox
    • Teamkill
    • Voice Chat
    • Scoreboard
  • New: Team Overlay
    • There are now 6 variants of the team overlay, and it appears on the left hand side.
      • The first two only show a player icon that changes color based on health, but the second variant allows showing of 16 allies vs 8 on the first.
      • The third adds a set of bars that show Health, Armor, Ammo, and Force
      • The fourth adds the same as the above, but with raw number values.
      • The fifth adds the same as the third, but with name and location added.
      • The Sixth adds the same as the fifth but with raw numbers instead of bars.
    • The overlay will continue to be improved. There wasn't enough time before release to make it fully customizable via the .menu files.
  • Change: Info Panels in point selection menus have been partially updated to be directly linked to the values from code. This will help ensure things stay in sync as balance updates. However, you will still notice many values labeled "UNKNOWN" as those have not been fully hooked up. We will be expanding what is hooked up as we continue our backend code cleanup processes.
  • Change: Minor rewording on a couple settings to be more clear.
  • Change: Widescreen UI settings, Team Overlay settings are now in UI -> UI Options 2.
  • Change: Updated several bits of the library with the help of Duckshark.

Why did you nerf Mandos so badly? I understand that you wanted to prevent Mandos from flying into a crowd of enemies and suicide bombing them with a rocket, but seriously? 1,5 seconds to fire a rocket? Not only are Mandos limited to 1 rocket, when ARCs can have up to 6, but Mandos can also be Pushed and knocked down while they're firing, while the same doesn't work on ARCs. And now you added a half a second delay on top of all that. Wtf are you doing? AND you nerfed the wrist laser too, my guess is you thought that sniping with the wrist laser is just too much. Thanks for a EE3 buff, I guess, but you nerfed its FP drain, so it still kinda sucks, especially when compared to the ARC rifle. Seriously, the scope is useless if you dont use level 3 sniper mode, especially now that you nerfed the wrist laser. Honestly, I'm disappointed with this butchering of the Mando class. I guess I should be thankful that you didnt make the flamer any worse than it already is.
Also, whoever butchered the Deathstar map by removing the camping spots under the ceiling above the bridges - I hate you. There are only so many spots in the game that made the jetpack truly special, and you completely ruined one of them.

God damn it. Why did they do this? Isn't it kind of assumed that a Mando would use the jetpack to get into some spot that is difficult for other classes to get to? Isnt it why Lindsay made it possible to shoot these camping spots down in the first place? Now Mando on this map is barely any different from any other class with high mobility (jedi/sith/ARC), worse even if you consider the 1,8 nerfs. Whats the point of an asymmetrical class system if you dont reward the players for utilising the tools and the terrain that they are given to maximise their advantage? I dont see the boxes that are used by snipers as cover being removed from the corridors, so why ruin this?

Don't think mando rocket change was needed, personally: the suicidal, hide-behind-corner rockets will only work against idiots; good players will only succumb to such a tactic once, at most twice, a match. Balance should always assume competent play, and should be predicated on people playing with their teammates: if we're looking at rockets in a 1v1 lens, then we should be doing the same with every class (though, in reality, we shouldn't, as it's a team game).

Current implementation of rocket feels pretty clunky.
You do realize a heavy part of the problem was mando rocket being used to headhunt good rebel gunners because they had no way of avoiding it, right?
Regarding team play, all it caused was over-reliance on having a jedi glued to your ass around the clock, or just go play jedi yourself. That was just to avoid getting deleted by a 15 pt win button to which there were no viable consistent counters as a gunner if the mando had 3 functioning brain cells.

In other words, the change was made with teamplay in mind in addition to overall balance, not pure 1v1s. There has also been a major issue of people pretending that the mando has no team with him to support him as well, which is laughable.

Why did you nerf Mandos so badly?
Poor mand---
Wait a minute:
- Massive EE3 accuracy buff with a slight fp drain down, which is most likely a fp drain net buff due to accuracy.
- Westars got fixed and a slight nerf, but got convergence as a buff and are still comically silly.
- The unavoidable 15 pt win button got smacked with extremely small limitations so people can't completely rely on it like a crutch, and the world is now ending apparently.

And I thought jedis of old were entitled.

To be fair, ANY rebel class could avoid it at close range. Solds, ETs and Heroes had secondary nade, clones have blob, wook has slap and barge, and ARCs can just dive away. There are also the omnipresent jedi, happy to push it for you if you can't avoid it.

glad I'm not the only one who felt like that was the only target audience for this patch
Imagine balancing based on the most competitive form of the game... what were the devs thinking?!

hey uh I hate to call you out like this, but maybe go back and read my posts before making a comment with a brain more smooth than an atomic mirror

but if you're just illiterate I forgive you <3

Sec nade was only reliable if you knew it was coming since you had to switch to it and still throw it. By that time, the rocket hit your feet. That isn't even considering the sec nade nerf that just arrived.
Blob is admittedly a decent tool, but any effort required is still placed on the clone whereas the mando presses 1 button where aim is optional.
Wook slap and barge requires them to be in range which nearly never happens.
ARC dive was never consistent in avoiding rockets. You would do well to mitigate it a little, that's it.
Depends on if you have a jedi glued to your ass.
Nevermind that none of this accounts for the mando having a team helping him so the jedi may get counterpushed, you may get naded yourself, you may be getting suppressed, or any other number of things which includes the part where imps are on defense a fuckton, which you are most definitely aware of lol

Warning: Flaming / Harassment
Worst patch in a while. The only good change is removing the idiotic font on the loadscreens....
Wtf is with this idiotic ugly timer skin now? its the ugliest thing ever. And removing the game timer when ur specing? what the hell? r u idiots?

I mean if u can't hit anything then sure I guess this is most likely a buff for you. Westars did need a nerf, these other changes don't make any sense. U can tell its literally 1 dev just powertripping here not knowing what he's actually doing who doesn't even play manda.

Why is mag plating 14 points? This doesnt open any viable builds up, this is idiotic.

the ui also bugs when choosing saber hilts depending on your ui selection options. it changes language of the hilts and just crashes if u choose them. U need TO BUG TEST BEFORE U SHIP SOMETHING. THis is stupid. Most basic of basic precautions were not taken here. And we have 2 hero skins of mara jade that are the exact same.....cmon u lazy idiots. The old Dev team is rolling their eyes so hard right now. All sense of integrity has long been lost on this poor excuse of a team u have now. U even let people who have 0 Game development skills join the team now....like wtf?!?!? They just use that power for their own shitty eggo stroking u kno? Do u care? u clearly dont.

Overall looking to be IMO one of the best patches in years. Few things I've noticed so far, im sure most of the issues are known though.

1. The team overlay cuts off if you're name is too long, the background is shorter than the names so it looks off.
2. the lowercase j in chat looks like a i and its very off.
3. I think this is in the works, but i'd love the option to have the old font back for text chat, everywhere other than that looks amazing.
4. Non convergence crosshairs are very much borked. EDIT (cg_twopistolcrosshairs 0) fixes it
All you are doing is enabling the incest and inbreeding that has taken over this community. Take a clear position and go with it. It's not rocket science. People who posted "thankyou for this" posts used to get flagged and have their posts removed. I would kno, I was one of them. Now you do that And u get a chance to be a dev's friend and influence what they add/remove from the next patch. Stop being apart of the problem.

That's a lot of words for sure, but I think you do prove my point with this - manda rocket could be avoided by any rebel class if you played your cards right, or if your jedi was there to back you up. I'm not saying rocket wasn't a noob button, but it could be countered. While you made it sound like when manda used it there was literally nothing you or your team could do.

Why haven't u fixed billy bob and the others who use the secondary nade to launcher themselves halfway across the damn map? U fix alot of other things that weren't even op or broken. U seem to add/remove based on ur little group mentality than any kind of logical deduction.

my thoughts:

- while altfrag changes are good, they ruin et as a solid counter to clone cuz blobs are easier to launch and there's more of em ( so either nerf blobs or may be clone armor idk, or give et more frags)

- arc m5 changes are busted, 8 snipes with 50 dmg at the same firing-rate?? op as hell, basically a much better wrist laser if you get good at shotgun-sniping during flips n shit

- i dislike the use-key melee changes but i understand why they were implemented, just bums me out

- "General head shot multiplier reduced from 3.0x to 2.5x." just why punish good aim, for real?

- request: up ee3 snipe dmg, it's just a garbo m5 rn

- thank you dev team for continuing to update this game

edit: new suggestion for et, make it so you can take 2 frags if you buy an e11. that is all

I'm not saying rocket wasn't a noob button, but it could be countered. While you made it sound like when manda used it there was literally nothing you or your team could do.
Sure, you can counter it. I can also technically counter 50 Arcs rocketing me simultaneously, but my odds aren't very good.

My point is that while you can, your chances are next to 0 if the mando has a functioning brain. It's not too different from a gunner vs a gunner camping a corner with sec nade pre patch. Yeah, sure, you can counter it, but your odds sit somewhere between 0 and very unlikely.

The cancelation of the rocket by dealing enough damage is a welcome change, but it should also be applied to ARCs. The rocket taking longer to fire, especially if your jetpack is on cooldown, is fucking bullshit. Mandos get only 1 rocket and can be Pushed and knocked down before they fire it, while ARCs get up to 6 rockets and the only way to stop them from firing a rocket is to kill them.
