Given the class's apparent lack of real oomf, and open's lack of a shotgun... What are your thoughts on such an option? It'd be a nice twist of heavy armor, high [albeit predictable] mobility, and bursty front end short range prowess.

Why not give it to hero? Currently they can only choose between the e-11 and pistol 3 for regular weapons, where as the Bounty Hunter has access to the DLT rifle.

I love hero, but I must admit it is already strong enough

Commanders are cool. On the imp side you got a vacuum cleaner, on reb side you got the kikili's wingun (apart from e-11). I'm not sure they need a shotgun.
I would give shotgun to clones to give variety. Right now they have got only the rifle (yes, with blobs, ions, possibility of minigun on level 3), but other than that the class got nothing more interesting.
Soldiers do not need this (soldier with lvl1 e-11 + 3 lives and nade is like magic - not sure if the new builds allow that setup, just pointing out what I remember).
ARC certainly do not need this.
Proly hero but for a huge cost.

tl;dr:
yay - heroes and clones
nay - ET, Solds, ARCs, Wookiee

Please mind, that my opinion might be outdated, because last time I played was an year ago. But I hope I still can post my opinion.

How so? ET is already one of the best classes in the game.
If that is the case, why do people pick bounty hunter and hero over ET?
Why am I always the only one playing ET?

The ET has a slow recovery, his weapons are expensive, his grenades are expensive, BT and hero both have great recovery and can direction their recovery, The ET dodge is the best feature of the class seeing as people don't play soldier so his rally ability is pointless. I had to ask people to play soldier on my team and I would get like one person to go soldier just to humor me and they switch back after a few rounds.
Which making my rally ability useless again.

The shotgun would be a great edition in fighting lightsticks. I don't know why we need to give the BT another weapon and the hero class another when the BT has the most weapons in the game and heros have the best gunner mechanics. They can dodge, the hero has Regen while the BT's get darts. They both have a common pool weapon, the carbine, and get sniper rifles.

What does the ET get? A dodge and ability that is only useful when people play soldier.

T21 destroys everything, trust me. And I dont think either class needs a shotgun hero BH or ET. I do want a shotgun in the game tho, don't get me wrong I just think it would make hero/bh and or et way to strong. That is unless you can only choose t21/a280 or a shotgun. I guess it all comes down to opinion, but I still think it would best suit a new class with a jump pack or something, but maybe thats just me.

Being realistic, putting in a weapon and giving it to a current class is more feasible than making a whole new mechanic and class.
Unless jump packs are already apart of the game and just don't have a slot in open mode.
(We are talking about jump packs not jetpacks for anyone who gets confused.)

I always see everyone playing on the AOD open mode server, usually dotf their standard open mode rate is 80.

https://blocked_domain/gvhywj.jpg
The ET pool as follows.
0-4 Pistol = 4
6-7-8 Carbine = 21pts
15-10-5 T-21/A280 = 30
15-15 Frag = 30
15-15 Fire = 30 (imp only grenade)
10-10 Sonic det = 20 (rebel only grenade)
Reinforcement = 30
Rally = 5
2-6 Dodge = 8

https://blocked_domain/fskmve.jpg
The bounty hunters weapon pool is.
0-4-15 Pistol =19
6-7-8 Carbine = 21
10-10-5 DLT - 25
20 Project rifle
10-12 Disruptor = 22
Darts are only 5 each poison maxes at 15
Tracking at 10

Now if you don't touch darts, thats an extra 15 points.
and if you take only 1 ammo thats 10 points.
I can fit the E-11 blaster, the DLT and either the projectile rifle or the disruptor max level 2. On the bounty hunter.
Or I can swap out the sniper and get a max level pistol, with 5 points left for one poison dart.
The weapons are much more cheaper for the BT, to the point he can slot 3 max level weapons and still be viable.
Unless you are super good, one spawn ET is not viable in my opinion even if you un-slot it for grenades.

https://blocked_domain/nbtvxs.jpg
The hero pool is more mechanics than weapons thankfully.
0-4-15 Pistol = 19
6-7-8 Carbine = 21
20 Project rifle
10-10-10 Frag Grenade = 30
Their abilities are dirt cheap
10-5 Dash = 15
2-6-7 Dodge= 15
5-5-5 Heal = 15

Heals make a real big difference, then add Dodge and dash. Thats 45 points in total. These are dirt cheap compared to the ET line up.
3 max level abilities for 45 pts. I got 35 points left. if I decide to ignore armor and ammo that is an extra 20 points so 55 points 35+20= 55
I can get 2 max level weapons and have enough to slot 1 point in ammo. Or just max one weapon and get 3 grenades.

Heroes are the best gunner class to fight light sticks, Their dash makes it great from stepping out of saber strikes and their recovery is excellent.
And if you are super good, you can destroy lightstick blocks from close range with the project rifle and switch to your pistol or carbine and just peck at the remaining block.

Same can be applied to BT's regarding the project rifle strat, but you can just switch to DLT instead. Or whittle them down with darts and just keep your distance the whole time and attempting to snipe them. Pistol 3 is fucking awesome on both of these classes too, where the ET only gets pistol 2. It is not easy landing hits with the pistol when you don't have the hours to back up your experience. With pistol 3 if you do hit, at-least it hurts.

The ET's weapons upgrades are super expensive, to get good damage on either the carbine or the big gun you need at-least upgrade slot 2.
Giving the shotgun to ET's would give them a little more leeway for dealing with people who get close in CQC range. Which is usually light sticks.
The carbine is the cheapest one to use, you need at-least 25 points for the second weapon to be useful and thats more than a max level carbine. Unless you are a navy seal with 1000 hours of experience and can kill people with a 1 slot T-21. It's more feasible with the rebel variant in my opinion because of the better firing rate.

So the ET being forced to pick either between the 2 would already happen. Because you can really only afford one weapon and a maybe pistol 2 if you unslot the rally ability and if you don't slot reinforcement you can afford both guns or get grenades. But you are sacrificing a spawn for an extra gun or explosive.

Now in hypothetical land where my opinion actually meant shit here, I would give the shotgun to ET's at a rate to 10-10-10. 10 for access, 10 for alt fire, 10 for damage. And I would set the Reinforcement to 20. And keep the weapon values the same. And make a new model by putting Aurra Sing's head on the slave leia model and Photoshoping the skin to match. For reasons...

This would work for the most part, but not making reinforcements cost only 20 points. It would need to stay at 30 to keep the class balanced.

How would giving them 10 extra points make the ET un-balanced?
That's enough for one frag grenade, and if you don't have any soldiers on your team. Un-slot rally and make it a fire.
One max level weapon and one grenade.

That an extra 10 points, making the shotgun 30 points and giving ET's enough cash to buy one grenade could be the only tweak they need.
This is how the current game is played, people either play lightstick or one of the specialist classes. ET is under-played and I believe its because they are under-powered.

Ignoring the whole reinforcement debate and giving them a shotgun can make them more viable against generally everyone. And give people incentive to play soldier again seeing as there's 5 mobile spawn points. Instead of just me.

The Hutts are gangstas.

It don't understand how et is underpowerd? Especially on the imps. T21 is easily one of the best weapons in the game. I play t21 when im mad and just want to kill as many players as I can. Especially with reinforcements an et can beat any class 1v1 excluding deka maybe. And lowering reinforcements to only 20 points would make et way op because you could get dodge 2 and reinforcements and t21/a280 maxed out and with atleast ammo 2, im too lazy to add it all up. I will say that I do think commander on rebels isnt as powerful as the imps et, but maybe thats cause I never play with a280 much. And I do think a shotgun could work with ET and be balanced but just not with an a280/T21 as well.

The rebel ET's have it much worse, that much I can confirm.
The burst fire is great but you wont hit anything with it unless they are point blank.

I've team killed more with that weapon than anything else because the burst shots spread out over distance and hit people that just happen to be near it.
The spread on the T-21 is more predictable and easier to not hit team mates with.

I've given the matter some long thoughts, and I think that best thing - balance wise - would be t make shotgun attachment a replacement for Clone's ion blobs. Currently, the blobs are *extremely* silly (making clowns a real deka/sbd counter, instead of arc, as it should be), and having shotgun-like blob would fill the void pretty nicely.

Summing it up, shotgun shoots could work exactly as blobs - you get a limited number of them, with a cooldown, not using regular ammo. After you use all of them, bam, no more until next spawn.

well its basicly like the e11 and in fa used as a skin for the e11
That is what I figured, so I propose seeing as we already have a model that would work on a clone.

We could just give them their own version of the E11, it would be cheaper to use compared to the clone rifle.
And we can give it an under barrel.

The clones would be able to afford to get more blasts, using the carbine version of thier rifle.
And I propose as well to remove slot 1 on the clone rifle, make slot 2 slot 1 and slot 3 to slot 2. And add 5 points to slot 2.

So the clone rifle would be specialized for high firing rate, while the carbine has more under barrel uses.
