Launcher Launcher tries to update every time you open it

I'm don't what causing OP's error, but this thing you're suggesting is completely redundant. Base game has nothing to do with that. Redundant as well... There should be a way to fix it using repair via Launcher and deleting some files that are already on drive (PatchStatus.xml?).

Oh come on!!! Just look at caption of a window on my screenshot! WinRAR, simple WinRAR. Alternatively, you can use PakScape. Or any other archive software that does support zip files, because .pk3 are just .zip archives with changed extension.

You're supposed to a get new error message, at least. Quote it. Never use phrasing "like did not work", it doesn't have any valuable information and it is not helping to solve the issue.

The Next Big Step for MBII

It's CLIENT, not game dlls. CLIENTS (=engines) and MODS are different things! MBII Client is based on OpenJK, and it's GPLed as well, indeed; you can find it's source code here: MBII/OpenJK . But there is only source code of the engine there, not actual game -- as I said, Movie Battles is...

The Next Big Step for MBII

MBII isn't based on OpenJK at all, it's based on JAMP SDK by Raven software from 2003, and it's covered by its proprietary EULA. Movie Battles existed for years before OpenJK were even released; MBII started in 2003, OpenJK is from 2013 (or whenever JA source code were opened).
