So almost two weeks CIS part of this community (which is almost as active as the whole rest European part of it) reporting this problem and all you might do is to suggest to use VPN and post some fun jokes?
Good job. I think you need to release a hotfix asap. To put some good sign at the main page of launcher. Something like: We don't care about you, fellow players. Regards, devs.
Just for you, I'll also provide it's on russian, so you can make your point even stronger.
"Нам похуй на русских игроков. Подпись: охуевшие буржуи."
Feel free to use it.

We can't control the IP that CloudFlare assigns to us. Sadly it is beyond our reach to go around this. Contact your service provider and inform them of this issue.

MovieBattles.org is hosted on private/dedicated server alone. CF is giving IP addresses randomly(tied to acc), and customer service or client cannot change the end ip address. CloudFlare is used as DNS and CDN service for mb.org.
This is how it works:
Step 1: How does Cloudflare work?

I'm not longer managing moviebattles.org's DNS (CloudFlare) since it was moved to another account recently.

I recommend getting a good VPN service and try to get in touch with your ISPs helpdesk.

ye, because it's easier for 200 ppl to contact their service provider to receive answer: "sorry we can't do nothing" than to change IP adress of this website. You can't control it, seriously? Well, try to change your provider maybe? You are developers for god's sake, you took a responsibilitty. And at least 1/3 of your community has some problems and you are posting jokes about Putin... Well, ye good attitude. At least simple message: "sorry we can't do anything about it atm, here's our recommendations on how to avoid this situation:..." in launcher would be good.
I honestly feel that your level of indifference is beyond any reasonable point.
Also, I am not russian, I don't have such issues. But I did as much as I can to make this game familliar to CIS players for years. And it's hurting me when people who actually has a responsibilitty neglecting their duties while volunteers are trying to do something, constantly running against the wall indifference and incompetence.

Hey Pepsi, another volunteer here! :) Please keep in mind we're all volunteers with our own busy schedules IRL, so these things take time. It isn't exactly a walk in the park to start changing providers all of a sudden like you suggest. Nobody's denying that the situation sucks, just that it's not the devs fault if ISPs suddenly go nuts in a country.

Meanwhile there are problems, the VPN recommendation is solid. There are free alternatives too that might work for our website, such as Browsec which you can handily download as a Chrome/Firefox extension. (Handy also for watching Wimbledon on BBC's website!)

Hopefully the situation gets resolved one way or another. I'm no webmaster though.

If people can't connect to moviebattles.org how do you propose we push a launcher message out to them?

Even if we could get Cloud Flare to do something there nothing to stop the new IP also being blocked. Or being blocked somewhere else.

It's a political problem, we sympathise but that's about all we can do. Take action in whatever lawful way in your location to instigate change - I.e. Go out and vote.

Hey lerv! Great idea! I like that you posted this recommendations here. At forums. Where noone can see it. After two weeks since it started.

"walk in the park to start something..." Man, how do I put this to make it clear and non-offensive? Hm. Okay, let's try this one: have you counted share of CIS players in mb2 compared to any other regions? At least roughly?
I can tell that it's sinificant. And this amount of current playerbase of mb2 is struggling and abandoning this game because forums not working for them, many potential players not looking at it (8 days before VII episode, month after BF2 released which turns out as a big failure) because of it? I assure you, in russian internet word about mb2 spreaded on a decent level.
And all you - not really you Lerv, I appreciate that you answered this disscussion, or anyone personal, but you as the mb2 team - do nothing. You only posting jokes, see what's my concern here? Maybe someone opened a ticket in cloudfire system? Or maybe you have wrote a letter about it to your provider? If so - tell us. But I bet you did nothing. And that's why I am wasting my time here.
And for now this ban works only on ppl with one provider in Russian. How long it takes to ban it on all providers in Russia, what do you think?

If people can't connect to moviebattles.org how do you propose we push a launcher message out to them?

memes
knowyourmeme and deviantart are blocked on SkyNet ISP.
Fortunately, I've moved to another ISP and now I can be meme-educated and become an artist.
Holy shit, that's tough.
Now I see that *one* demotivation poster about suicide was blocked by Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare. SkyNet is so stupid and/or poor it can't even filter http (not encrypted) requests, so they blocked whole site instead of a single page.
customer service <...> cannot change the end ip address
Why are you so sure? Have you even tried to request IP change?
You are their client.
You pay them money.
They provide you services those cause problems.
You should contact their technical support, and tech support should solve your issues (by either shutting down drug shop, or changing IP address).
Surely Cloudflare has a lot of IPs, so they can just replace 104.24.100.26 and 104.24.101.26 with some other addresses.

Write a letter to Cloudflare's tech support.
it was moved to another account recently.
Excuse me? Moved to another account? RECENTLY?
So maybe it's the reason of all disaster? Maybe moviebattles.org had some other IP in the past, but them DNS was moved to other account, and that caused IP change to the one that is banned in Russia?

Jesus Christ, just move it back.
I recommend getting a good VPN service
Impossible. VPN costs money.
Also, any intermediate network node slows down overall connection speed.
try to get in touch with your ISPs helpdesk.
I'm already doing this, but no luck so far.
They responded for my first letter quickly, but all they said was "send screenshots, and exact date/time when you was trying accessing moviebattles.org".
So I send them screens and date/time.
Then they asked me am I able to browse other web-sites, like Yandex, and is moviebattles.org available via other ISP.
So I replied "Yes, yes".
Tech support send me next letter, asking for my phone number.
I don't understand why they needed my phone since we already communicated via e-mail, but I gave them my number.
I've got a response, "we will contact you shortly", but they didn't. No new mails, no phone calls.
Then I send them another one letter, expressing how pissed off I was. No reply so far, but it was just few hours ago anyway.

Movie Battles II Community .

They answer they blocking Ip 104.24.101.26.
Did they provide any reasoning why do they block 104.24.101.26?
"Нам похуй на русских игроков. Подпись: охуевшие буржуи."
lmao, so accurate
We can't control the IP that CloudFlare assigns to us.
I suppose you didn't even tried.
If there is no user interface to change your IP, contact CF via e-mail and ask them to change your address manually.
Explain the situation. Provide as much details as possible.

Also, request termination of services for coca24rc.biz.
Selling drug is illegal everywhere. If that wasn't drug store, if it was child pornography site, Cloudflare would already shut them down, instantly.
They are just too lazy to deal with some Russian text instead of pictures of naked teens, so make them handle this situation manually.

Or, just move moviebattles.org to previous account.

As you can see, you have plenty of options.
start changing providers all of a sudden like you suggest
Nobody suggests changing hosting providers yet.
Just contact them via e-mail.
Chrome/Firefox extension.
I use Opera Presto (Opera 12, not that Chromium garbage).
Chrome won't work for me at all, because I'm on Windows XP, and Chrome does not support SNI on XP, which Cloudflare uses: https://community.moviebattles.org/threads/forums-not-displaying-opening.129/
Firefox is just too slow.

But which is more important, no browser extensions can fix MBII Launcher.
Judging by this link, a restriction was canceled the same day it was accepted. Probably Beeline overlooked it by accident.
Meanwhile, I've found a new record in the registry of banned sites: Реестр запрещенных сайтов
It's seems to be currently active record.

If everything is going to stay as it is now, I will have no option other than reporting the drug shop to other Russian ISPs, which, apparently, will result blocking moviebattles.org by those ISPs.
If I'm unable to access MBII site and MBII update system, no Russians should have an access as well.
Not sure, though, that I will get any success; maybe other ISPs are blocking coca24rc.biz already, but they do it by DNS only, not by IP, so it doesn't affect moviebattles.org. Such "blocking" can be bypassed by simply changing DNS server.
Maybe, only Beeline decided to block drug dealers by IP, so it would be nearly impossible either to make Beeline use DNS blocking or make other ISPs to blacklist IPs. But I will do my best.

Yes, moved. Because I left, and since I'm not easy to catch, it was moved to another account which allows devs to easy manage DNS without reaching me.

Give away your account to other devs then.

Maybe if more players will be affected by this blocking, both you guys and Cloudflare will be more active solving this issue?
Ever heard about "too big to fail" idiom?

Sounds like you are just being an ass at this point to be honest, Puppytine.
I'm just being a person who doesn't have a direct access to these forums since Nov, 28.
And you are just being somebody who aren't very concerned about those who cannot use your site anymore, to be honest.
I just remember you reacted soooooo much faster during memegate, deleting pictures and banning users on sight.
Sounds like removing memes that nobody complains about is more important for you than fixing blocking of forums and mod's update system.
MBII dev team has very strange priorities.
Goodoldben has already stated he has contacted Cloudflare and is awaiting a response.
That's good.
But I want to point out that I already published all my e-mails from/to Beeline support service.
I expect you to do the same.

You know nothing about the priorities of the dev team, Puppytine, so please stop spewing garbage. Direct your frustration with the situation of your ISP towards something else.

So... I should just give away my account to other devs so you can visit forums.

Your ISP is blocking IP address, and you are making it our fault and our problem.

MBII dev team has very strange priorities.
Nothing to fix on our end, nothing is broken. And for memes, why people keep talking about it. This is MB2 forum, not some subreddit with pictures.

Anyway, I came here only to say this is nothing I can help with since Ben mentioned me as I could.

You know nothing about the priorities of the dev team, Puppytine
Your priorities can be seen pretty clearly; I've provided an example from real life, basing on real events. An actual argument.
You said nothing that could prove me wrong, just a meaningless sentence "You know nothing about the priorities of the dev team". You just rudely dismissed my concerns.
I'm afraid this is not me who is "spewing garbage" right now.
So... I should just give away my account to other devs so you can visit forums.
Exactly.
But not only me, it's about all other Beeline customers. Maybe even about all other Russian players.
Move moviebattles.org back to your account, and either give your account to somebody else, or just keep it yourself.
Your ISP is blocking IP address, and you are making it our fault and our problem.
Exactly.
Well, maybe not "your fault", but definitely "your problem". I cannot even believe you're actually saying that. Your players came to you for help, they provided all details about their issue, and they provided possible ways to fix it, and all that you can say is "not my problem"? Seriously?
This is outrageous. Pepsi is so right about you, he found very accurate words about your behavior.
Nothing to fix on our end, nothing is broken.
You're supposed to help your users anyway you can, solving their problems, fixing bugs.
And now you're basically telling us "go fuck yourself"? Especially after two years, when I constantly supported players on these forums (and on the Discord), you are refusing to provide support for me?

I guess you have no idea what it takes to be good forum admin and good software developer. C'mon, read this: How Microsoft Lost the API War
If Microsoft could add special code that checked if SimCity was running, and if it did, ran the memory allocator in a special mode in which you could still use memory after freeing it, surely you can make these forums available for Russians.
This is your duty.
And for memes, why people keep talking about it. This is MB2 forum, not some subreddit with pictures.
Since you spent enormous amount time and effort removing pictures nobody was complaining about, I expect you to spend x10 time and effort solving this issue, because honestly, it's impossible to compare an importance of cleaning forums from some pics and an importance of having access to web-site and the update system.
If you think that "damage" from memes is anywhere near to damage from having your IP blocked, I question your priorities one more time.

===========

Anyway, there is some updates about Beeline tech support.

First, I just found out they direct some replies by SMS to my USB-modem. I didn't check it for a week.
The bad news is that those replies adds absolutely nothing to this situation; All they say is "Your request was checked. Restrictions in the work of the Internet is not revealed".

Second thing is that today's morning I finally got a phone call from tech support, but it's also useless.
Beeline's employee said that "they aren't blocking anything".
Me: "But you're blocking sites from the list of Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media. You are required to do so by law."
Beeline's employee: "When we are blocking some site, there are always a label informing that access is restricted."
Me: "That's not true! You're blocking LinkedIn, a Microsoft social network. When I'm trying accessing it, I don't get any messages from you, I get only standard browser's 'site timed out' error!"
Beeline's employee: "We are not blocking anything"
Me: "You ARE blocking LinkedIn! And you're blocking moviebattlers, and I get no 'access is restricted by Russian authorities' message either way. You're probably blacklisted IP of moviebattles!"
Beeline's employee: "I already gave you all the information I've got".
Me: "Have you even tried opening moviebattles.org from the PC which is connected to the Internet via Beeline?"
Beeline's employee: "No."
Me: [screams internally]
Me: "But I tried! I still cannot access moviebattles.org using Beeline, but I can access it via Megafon!"
Beeline's employee: "I already gave you all the information I've got".
Me: "Execution of tracert command shows that traffic doesn't go out of your subnet. One of Beeline's router blocks it".
Beeline's employee: "I already gave you all the information I've got".
[A few repetitions of what has already been said]
Beeline's employee: "I already gave you all the information I've got. Our conversation got stuck" [hung up].

This is fucking unbelievable. Beeline customer service is horrible, they aren't helping at all. They didn't even tried acessing moviebattles.org by themselves, but they STILL insist they aren't blocking it!
And in the end, that dude just hung up the phone in the middle of the call.

Enough.

Internet censorship is a general problem and we won't deal with it here.
Yes, the fact that part of the Russian community cannot access our website is a problem. We aren't happy about this anymore than you are.

We are looking into what we can do from our end to fix it. Ben has already said he sent an email, and we're also looking into our recent Cloudfare account switch.

We are simply stating that whatever we do, it might not be enough to solve the problem as Cloudfare's IPs and ISP policies are both out of our control.

We are still doing what we can and will update on this thread when we hear something new. We are not ignoring this.

I will not lock this just in case there is a new development from the Russian players/ISP side, but this thread will NOT turn into another devs vs community shitfest. Updates and facts only.
