Jan 18 edit, for anyone wondering: while I'm maintaining this overall attitude/goal as a challenge to myself, I'm going to go back to switching names whenever i feel like it, with no clan tags. I'll keep my current in-game name in my sig so people who know me on the forums can ID me, though.
[important note: I posted this in Community Discussion rather than in Clan Advertisements because the Clan Advertisements forum wasn't allowing me to post, AND ALSO because it's meant mostly as an abstract thread for discussing toxicity and if it should be consciously resisted. It's also just a pseudo-RP philosophical rant.]
Hello,
Listeners of Ashla =LoA= is a non-existent (edit: slightly existent) clan that, if it existed, would be dedicated to maintaining and spreading an insistently positive, encouraging, empowering, fundamentally anti-toxic attitude in-game.
"Ashla" is the name of the light side of the force, and the Listeners of Ashla are people who are willing to stop, let go of everything clouding their mind for a moment, and just look at what's in front of them and listen for what their human heart is feeling about it.
"Your heart?" you might ask, "what does your heart have to do with the Force?" Well, son, this cult has a slightly alternative view of the Force. See, the Force flows through all of us. As Yoda said, "Life creates it." The Force is a manifestation of our essences, then, and accepting our essences (and the essences of others) is then the way of the light side of the Force, Ashla. Hatred does not come from the heart. The greatest Jedi Master of this interpretation of Ashla is the late great Jedi Master Mister Rogers, who is quoted as saying:
"The greatest gift you ever give is your honest self."
"When I say it's you I like, I'm talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
So, we do our best to listen to our hearts and use the quiet power that rises from within to break through toxic hatred and the brutal repression of feeling. This is the essence of the Listeners of Ashla. And the feeling of empowerment this attitude provides also naturally enables you (and everyone you meet and encourage) to grow as a player, as well.
Sociopaths need not apply. Your hearts are goners! (<-- edit: this is a joke)
If anyone Hear-Hears this with enough fervor then this clan would be at risk of becoming a real clan. Right now it's just kind of an idea. There's no reason to lose a community this small to toxicity without even putting up a fight. (edit: I've started using the clan tag in-game, as =LoA= Cassian so the clan "exists" now. Add me on Steam if you're interested, or I can just be a one man casual anti-toxic aura. My own non-toxicity is a work in progress.)
