I'm using Linux Mint, and I wanted to try and play MBII but I'm not sure how to install it properly. Any help would be much appreciated.

I uninstalled and reinstalled JA and MBII, and I made sure to carefully read and do what was listed on the wiki. I tried to check if any maps would load before I put the patch in, and it could at the very least go into the main menu and load Cloud City. Cloud City crashes when I trigger a door that slides open. After putting the patch in I got the same crash to desktop as yesterday with the same error log as last time.

Here is an experimental compile of the mbii client for linux. Please let me know if it works or not. I will push it out for all users if it works well.

I've had another go, Think the last one might have failed and I didnt notice as i compiled it using WSL, this one is natively compiled using ubuntu.

Any feedback on this? Still broken?
Thanks. Linux isn’t my main OS anymore, but I can still test it this weekend.

Edit:

I managed to test it briefly, and it seems that, using the Vulkan engine, I didn't encounter any bugs or crashes as I did before.

With the rend2 engine, I couldn't test very deeply, but I was able to load deathstar. However, the game CTD when starting the round, and it looked like some textures weren’t displaying correctly, as if there was a lighting issue.

Sorry it took me a bit to get to this I've had a bit of a busy week. So far the application is staying at 4:3 aspect ratio and when I try to toggle fullscreen it stays at the same size and goes in the bottom left corner of the screen, filling the rest of the screen with black. When I try to change the resolution settings to try to fix it nothing happens.

The game still opens up to the main menu though, so far better than last time. I tried to join an Open DOTF server with a few people in it, but I got a "sound/null has length 0" error and got booted to the main menu. I tried joining a Legends Deathstar that was empty, but I got booted for a different error, "misc_model_static failed to load model 'models/map_objects/imperial/chair.md3'". Then I tried an empty open Smuggler that had the same model error but instead of "chair.md3" it's "switch.md3".

Edit:

Turns out I did do something wrong, when you install it right it works just fine.
