I'm using Linux Mint, and I wanted to try and play MBII but I'm not sure how to install it properly. Any help would be much appreciated.

The latest they have is 1.10.06. Since Mace left the team, no one has been maintaining the Linux compiling & distribution.

The guide is broadly correct except there is no longer a manual installation option. The specific steps required will vary from distro to distro but are basically:
Add x86 libs to the OS
Install dotnet core 6
Install JKA files
Use crossplatform patcher to download MBII
Run the provided mbii.i386 with the correct command line.

What you guys need to do is Update the Client for Linux users. Last time I checked, Mace knew how to do it, but he supposedly left the Dev team. So if you know anyone with knowledge on Linux, please update the client.

Run the provided mbii.i386 with the correct command line.

mbii.i386 hasn't been updated since may of 2023 (so no updates for rend2 etc) because its not autocompiling and therefore not updated as part of the build. So last I heard people had issues with crashes and whatnot. No ones looked into it when I have mentioned it multiple times.

So why don't you update it then?

the games dying buddy, the things we took for granted are now the very hardships...
jokes aside, the devs are more into implementing more serious things! like bad & unnecessary open changes in what are supposedly hotfixes.
catering to the like competitive 5% of the playerbase rather than making the game playable for all PC audiences... windows mac & linux.
don't bother asking mace to do it he's quit the team. john might be your saving grace instead. if they don't consider it a waste of dev resources, bc they need john for more important things!

The open source project is entirely seperate from MBII, but since no one seems to be doing it, I will build it and push it out asap.

Here is an experimental compile of the mbii client for linux. Please let me know if it works or not. I will push it out for all users if it works well.

DOTF loads, however it CTD's when you try to hit a panel with your lightsaber. Honestly, at this point MBII isn't worth it on Linux and I'm not willing to run Windows in a VM.
Same here! Crashes every time I hit that panel or anything on dotf. Linux struggles...

I get an error every time I try to run it after applying the patch. I'm on Fedora 41, and I'm pretty sure I set up everything right.
