How would I go about hosting a simple hamachi server for me and my one friend?

I want to host a local server using hamachi.

A problem I've encountered is that, when I host dedicated LAN or Internet, my game minimizes to the yellow-text console screen.

And even without that, I'm not sure if hamachi would work.

Any help?
