In my opinion, I wouldn't sacrifice flexibility for simpleness. I like the idea though!

What version of JKA do you own. (Steam, CD, Torrent, etc) Also, if it happens on every server it might not be a network issue and be a hardware issue. Can your laptop even run MBII? (Not likely lol) Have you tried lowering video settings? Try creating your own match and see if the bug continues...

I think there was a JK2 multiplayer map that was the same hangar with added crates. Or, you could just use MB2's star destroyer map. It's essentially the same thing.
