Why exactly do tk points exist?

For more serious explaination, by design Movie Battles would seem pretty out of place with out a tk system. Having rocket launchers, grenades and sabers that almost always instant kill people apart from your teammates would lose the MB2 lethality spirit and would make them just risk free easy kill weapons, since you're not gonna lose out on a team mate

I TK'd 10 people once by accident obviously and it was not popular with the team. Without TK points each server would just be FFA and people would not have fun and eventually uninstall believe me.
