Sandbox's Second Competitive 6 v 6 Open-mode Tournament

Sandbox will be hosting The 2024 Sandbox Open, our second Competitive 6 v 6 Open-mode Tournament on Saturday January 13th, 2024 at 1 PM EST! The rules will be similar to our regularly hosted pickup games with a few differences, notably the ability to form and prepare your own teams ahead of time! Rules In Brief:

Competition: Open-mode, 6 vs 6, one player per class, no Droideka
Rules: First to 6 round-wins is match winner, teams swap sides after 5 rounds
Event Time: January 13th 2024, at 1 PM EST until event end, around 8 PM EST
Server: Sandbox !Event (hosted in Washington DC, USA)
Format: Two Stage: Group Stage + Single Elimination
Team Signup Deadline: January 6th 2024, one week before event
Map Pool: Lunarbase, Deathstar, and Hetzal Prime

The signup deadline has passed for Sandbox's second Competitive 6 v 6 Open-mode Tournament on Saturday January 13th at 1 PM EST and six teams have signed up:
I Love Gaming, CE7, The Timewasters, The Hillbillies, Entente, and reigning champions Scrim Team Six!

Now that the teams are finalized we're prepared to announce that the format will be a Two Stage Tournament: Group Stage + Single Elimination.

Today is the day of The 2024 Sandbox Open, our second Competitive 6 v 6 Open-mode Tournament!

Starting at 1 PM EST, six teams will be facing off in a two-stage tournament which will be streamed with live commentary, post-match interviews, and a short post-tournament award ceremony.

And it's not too late to participate! We're expecting at least a few no-shows from players who signed up so if you're interested in filling in for absent players join our Sandbox Discord Server, be present in the Watch-Lobby voice channel at the event start time, and you may be picked up by a desperate captain.

1 PM EST:
The Hillbillies vs. The Timewasters

2 PM EST:
CE7 vs. I Love Gaming
Scrim Team Six vs. The Timewasters (OFF-STREAM)

3 PM EST:
Scrim Team Six vs. The Hillbillies
I Love Gaming vs. Entente (OFF-STREAM)

4 PM EST:
Entente vs. CE7

5 PM EST - Semifinal 1:
1st in Group A vs. 2nd in Group B

6 PM EST - Semifinal 2:
1st in Group B vs. 2nd in Group A

7 PM EST - Final:
Winner of Semifinal 1 vs. Winner of Semifinal 2

8 PM EST - Awards Ceremony:

They were able to overcome a significant ping disadvantage and claw their way to the finals despite qualifying only second in their group, defeating every the teams seeded above them!
