Proposed changes

Simplicity and stability are the prevailing themes and the main issues currently.

PBS (Zones etc) NEED TO BE FIXED

COUNTER SWINGS NEED TO BE FIXED (they are extremely inconsistent)

CONVOLUTED SYSTEMS NEED TO BE REMOVED OR AVOIDED
(restricting swings from coming out((clunky restrictive gameplay)), not being able to PB in certain situations, requiring additional inputs for basic functions an example would be slap no longer functioning as an easily accessible melee option. You now need to input addiontal buttons to do an alternative melee option that was previously only 1 button. )

I think - in general - there are alot of points about duel changes, that a majority would be ready to agree uppon, and that's a good demonstration everyone is willing to achieve something better, all together.

an example would be slap no longer functioning as an easily accessible melee option.

And regarding the slap, I think it's due time we open the subject, a thing that really could use some new/renewed ideas, to improve it overall. As it stands, it's absolutely needed in open in the jedi/sith toolkit. But the slap can becomes a narrow point when it comes to duel(and duelmode) which can take away the need of using/needing other mechanics.

How could we imagine a better something ? because without it in a duel, it's door open (if not an invitation) for spamming. It's not the sole use case, and I think everybody could think of one that they use it for.
So how would we re-imagine a slap that (kinda still)fits an array of needs/use-case, while de-centralizing it's use ? That I think everyone has thought at some point it could be improved. (Without nerfing it's power, especially in regard to open balance)

no reason to stress yourself thinking about improving slap if you dont play the game + absolutely useless to think about that as there are way other important things devs need to address in upcoming months

Slap worked perfectly fine it just needs to be reverted. You are actively being punished for pressing the button in is current state.

Right, I actually forgot to include something important! Thanks you for reminding :p
Slap recently has changed and doesn't send people "flying", (and isn't the same feeling/fun, to put it like this) and instead instantly ground people.

I havent heard anyone able to give an explaination about that decision, so as a start if the devs could explain us what lead to this ?

can I please get unmuted on the TSB feedback discord please I really want to give feedback where its most relevant. perhaps then we can even find the real use of slap losing its feedback.

Being punished for messing up a timing, sounds fine to me??? Slap was not perfectly fine before, the knockback/up could make punishes for the bad slap miss, additionally slap has insanely short recovery that is still hard to get a true punish on but at least now you will have a much greater chance of doing so since your swing isn't being pushed away. Then there is the issue that even if you read the slap and stop your swing, the follow up may not be fast enough to stop someone from backpedalling/running with a swing into a parry to nullify your read/punish, which still needs to be addressed. I witnessed someone who caught onto this make it the backbone of their playstyle as even if you read correctly there was a high chance you would just lose the engagement anyway. To top this off after 1.7 saber range globally got reduced/equalled so distancing/drags were harder to pull off to bait slaps and probably is still the case in R20.

Red needs an entire rework, dueling with red or against red is not enjoyable unless you get joy from killing noobs in 4-5 hits.

Perhaps reducing offense rating and upping the speed to act as a more neutral stance would create some potential if red stance users could fight longer than 10 seconds.

Good lmfao, too many duels were stolen or needlessly extended by the stupid knock up. No more rng physics breaking launching people with slap. Now when you successfully slap, you are guaranteed your punish and if you whiff the opponent is guaranteed their punish...

However it does need better feedback. It's incredibly confusing whether or not you are whiffing or missing the timing on the slap especially on high ping. A crosshair blip or an improved sound would be beneficial towards input feedback.

Me personally I dont think there's anything RNG about how slap used to work, the little knockback was good for player feedback and was absolutely harmless. I'd rather have the little knockback than yet another crosshair blip.
