Going to install Mb2 through steam.

Do I need to do both steam: archive installation and steam: launcher installation as outlined in - Installation & Troubleshooting Guide ??

No.
I recommend you just to install Movie Battles via Launcher.
Archive thing is a plan B in case something goes wrong with Launcher, but you still need Launcher working because of anti-cheat.
