Auto-join

The idea behind this is that when you connect to a server you are automatically auto-joined as a Soldier with default skill point distribution to a random team. Then, if you are joining as the round is about to start or if you forget to join you wouldn't miss the round.

worth considering addding a similiar feature to 1.5 or 1.6 if it's not too much trouble

That's very bad idea. I always connect then afk, and even if not afk I still wait one round to see which team should I join. That's like 5minutes, not 5h.

Then there can be an option to disable it for those who don't want it.

What I mean by random is that you'll join the team that's unlocked (that has less players) by the balance system, so there would be no stacking. You can't join the locked team anyway. If both teams are unlocked, then it's random, though it can be set that you join the team with the worse score even then.
