Hello, it's me, A friend!
This post is made with the purpose of introducing some tips regarding mechanics that new players may not know. This post is meant specifically for them, but, if you are a veteran player and you find some of the tips useful, then it's great!
The tips written will be about open/legends gameplay. For dueling tips, consider reading this forum post made by Leons:
community.moviebattles.org
It contains most of the important basic mechaics for dueling and some advanced ones. Even though it's WIP, it's quite comprehensive.
The tip list for legends/open start now:
1. Wookies have the ability to knock people down with their melee slap/barge. To avoid being knocked down by them, you need to crouch. Saber users are also advised to slash while crouching for a relatively easy kill if the wookie player proceeeds with melee attacks.
2. Force users have the ability to knock you down with their force powers (namely push, pull, and lightning push). To avoid being knocked down by them, you need to either crouch or walk. Some force user players will try to bait you into running by going point blank and waiting for you to start running. Don't fall for the bait and keep shooting them while walking;
3. I've seen some people telling me that they use the force next and force previous binds to choose what force power to use. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I do recommend binding at least force push, pull, and sense to some buttons for ease of access. These force powers can be bound in Settings > Controls > Force Powers;
4. Some classes have unique abilities they can use by pressing class special buttons. Class special buttons can be bound in Settings > Controls > Movie Battles;
5. Try to not move in predictable patterns or standing still while facing a gunner as a force user. Or walk at them while blocking. What you need to do is move evasively - that is, use your w a s d buttons. Try going erratically by pressing a and d to go left and right. Never stand still. Never move in one direction for too long. Change your movement patterns while being shot - it will confuse your enemies into missing you.
6. Some people have asked how to slap or gunbash. Gunbash/slap can be bound in Settings > Controls > Interaction;
7. Some classes in Legends have items that can be activated by pressing the use item bind. These binds can be found in Settings > Controls > Interaction;
8. Usually, it's a bad idea to throw explosives or shoot rockets at a force user who knows about your presence - they can push them back into you or into your teammates. Try to angle your grenade throws in a way that it's hard to push them back, and shoot rockets at force users who are knocked down;
8.1 If you do want to shoot a rocket at a force user who is aware of your presence and you know that your own force user can push the rocket back, try to shoot your rockets while standing in front of your force user - that way you make it easier for your ally to push it back;
9. Pushing nades is a bit tricky - your push creates a cone that pushes all the grenades from its' center, the center being your crosshair placement. Proper crosshair placement in order to push grenades is important;
10. You can make a config file that will remember your binds. Write /writeconfig (name) in console to do so. It's handy if you want to have separate binds for gunner or force user gameplay.
With that, my list of tips ends. If you have any questions, ask them under this post or dm me in discord.
My discord handle is someangrydude. I will have a cat drawing as a profile picture.
Hope these tips will help you become a bit better at this game. See you in game, thank you for your attention, and have a nice day!

[WIP] Leons' R21+ Dueling Guide 2026
The official... It has been a while since this patch was released, and although there are still plenty of either inconsistent or uncertain things, I believe the new players should stand a chance in learning the game. I am proud to announce that R20 Dueling Guide with my work is actually...
