Hello,
TLDR: What program do I need to create 3d models. BONUS - Can I use that program to open an existing model from the game and edit it?
I know how to do sound replacements and re-skin existing models.
What I want to get into now is creating new models for the game - to replace existing ones. I'm having trouble getting info online. Most stuff has broken links or is missing the critical info I need. For starters I don't even know the difference between an md3 and gla. I think .MD3 models of weapons are Quake 3 engine models for 1st person (they include an arm and are not enclosed models (just a shell of the top for the player to see 1st person), and the .GLA files are something else for 3rd person models (complete models and no hands involved).
I have downloaded Blender and AutoDesk SoftImage and have absolutely no idea how to open either of these files because they seem to only like "scenes".
Any tips to get me started would be much appreciated!
Thanks gang.
