Actual raytracing that could come to mb2 in the future

Found this trailer for outcast raytracing based on the quake 2 engine path tracing used for the rtx quake 2 remake converted to the quake 3 engine. In the comments he says it would be compatible with jedi academy and maybe mb2.

Yup, everyone always seems to think it's just a button you press to turn on ray tracing. If this was ever going to be implemented properly it would require redoing all of the assets in MBII.

And most of the base assets. Technically possible? Sure. Practically? Extremely unlikely.

The best we may see in the future is rend2 support which doesn't have ray tracing (last I checked) but would at least get some modern rendering features that could be used to enhance some recent maps and models.
