WORST Star Wars? 2018 edition

TLJ has edged out AotC as the movie I dislike the most by quite a large margin. It ignored all the potentially interesting plot points TFA set up in favor of trying to be different. It feels very out of place as a movie in the main saga.

I didn't vote myself, as I don't really know which one I like least. I could make a valid argument for any in my bottom 3.
I: The whole story felt unneeded, in fact, some viewing orders recommend skipping this one entirely. Really bland characters that aren't that good, things like Jar Jar and Anakin blowing up a space station without any experience make this one kinda feel little kid oriented in some ways. Feels like a generic space movie for kids. Not really terrible, but not memorable either. Had it not been SW, 20 years later no one would even remember this one.
II: Characters like Dooku and Obi are better than the bland ones of episode 1, but on the other hand characters like Padme and Anakin are extremely weird, cringey, and annoying. Anakin comes off as a full blown stalker. You knew her for like a couple days 10 years ago, but you thought about her every day since? Kinda dumb. CGI is ugly, even at the time. Bad dialogue is prevalent throughout the whole movie. Also makes Boba Fett as a annoying little kid. Though the story is actually important, unlike 1.
The Last Jedi: Firstly, after JJ teased he hadn't revealed Rey's last name for a reason, everyone was theorizing like crazy. Then they come out and say both her parents AND Snoke are nothing? It's almost liked they TRIED to let people down. Next, I hated the direction of Luke Skywalker's character. He seemed like a mean selfish old man, very different from OT Luke. I was hoping for lots of cool scenes from him and thought he would become important and we could see a powerful, experienced jedi master in action. And then they kill him off, for seemingly no reason. Also, characters like Rose and Phasma are very annoying. Plot feels like a episode 5 copy. I will admit visually, it's mix of CGI and practical effects was gorgeous, but that's really the only really good thing about it. Lastly, it felt very feminist. All male characters were either lost and didn't know what they are doing, or morally compromised like Snoke, Kylo, and Luke. While female characters, like Rey, Leia, and Holdo are very wise and always know what they are doing. Yoda even goes as for as to say "Rey already has what she needs". I mean, she doesn't even need jedi training? Before you call me sexist, I liked Leia in OT a lot. Also, Rey never bothered me in 7, nor Jyn Erso in Rogue one.

Disney ruined Star Wars.
Completely ruined Luke's character to start with, turned him into a coward and a pussy, whereas his expanded universe counterpart is a badass.
Almost everything is just recycled from past films (mainly the OT), for example the First Order and Resistance is just a lazy unoriginal copy and paste of Empire and Rebellion, Kylo Ren is just a walmart version of Anakin/Vader, same with Snoke for Palpatine. Oh, also Rey is a horrible character, you're an idiot if you don't think she's the literal definition of a Mary Sue lol.
If Disney didn't get involved with Star Wars, The Clone Wars would've been finished, legends would've stayed and have been expanded upon, we would've gotten awesome games like Free Radical's Battlefront 3, ect ect
But instead here's what we got; Clone Wars was cancelled and replaced by Rebels, which btw is a garbage kids show, expanded universe got completely cucked when it had lore a MILLION times better than the new canon we got, the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, which both were complete garbage movies for so many reasons, although I'll say I prefer TFA over TLJ, EA is the only one making Star Wars games and everyone hates both Battlefront 1 and 2 (ea). And for the future there gonna be milking Star Wars dry, new movies every year, trash animated TV shows like Rebels, ect.
I could go on and on and on, this is just the short version of my thoughts lol

Attack of the clones is still the worst in my opinion. TFA, Rogue One and TLJ make me feel more apathetic towards the franchise rather than outraged. Haven't felt the urge to rewatch them.
Never thought I'd praise the prequels for much but at least they were following a single directors vision (as flawed it as was at times) rather than relying so much on nostalgia bait.

On the whole battlefront 3 thing, that was canceled a while before Disney bought SW. But the rest of these are good points.

The new movies, by themselves, are not bad movies (although personally i really hate the cheap humor they keep using almost as much as jarjar, and also the flashiness), but i think their style and the content shown cannot be described as star wars in the same sense that fans know it, although rogue one is decent in that regard.
Anyways to me the show which truly defines star wars is the 2008 clone wars cartoon. It is just much better than any of the movies if you can get past cartoonish graphics (and frankly, no offense to live actors, but epic and high-speed acrobatics, from jedi or other strong characters, are not and simply cannot be well-portrayed in a movie, as they are in the cartoon). Especially the latest seasons were getting more and more amazing, and disney had to freaking cut it there in favor of rebels (which although not terrible, isn't nearly as good), it enrages me everytime i think about it. Not to mention the shooter game 1313. FeelsBad.

Episode 3's duel were overly flashy, but DOTF and the ones from the OT are fine I thought.

Torn between Episode 2, 7 and Rogue One really. They're all very boring movies in their own way. In each of them I hardly felt excitement at any turn. You have these cool characters with nothing to say, which just leaves me falling asleep whenever there's no action.
Episode 7 sometimes peeks out its head saying "I introduced cool characters right?" and to that I'll respond "Right, but did you do more than present those characters?" It had absolutely horrible world building for a film that's supposed to set the stage for a new trilogy in a new era. The protagonist did not suffer a single personally significant setback, any triumphs that were had just felt unearned. It was an entertaining movie with great acting, pacing, art and even a stable plot. Somehow it still didn't leave much of a mark. A tragic meeting between father and estranged son felt flat and predictable. The movie didn't miss a beat, but it still had no rhythm. It's just following a blueprint for a Star Wars movie. Just another soft reboot.
Still somewhat confused with the hate towards 8. It managed to drive a narrative of there being a flip-side of heroism. Admittedly (to seemingly many people's disdain) at the expense of knocking the most renowned hero in the galaxy off his pedestal. What made that justified to me was having him live up to everyone's expectations at the end through a heroic last stand that reminds me of old school samurai stories. Leaving Luke alive for 9 would have been the worst choice. Now Rey and Kylo are no longer overshadowed by more powerful characters. Where 7 was just a sequence of things happening, 8 had rhyme and reason. Here's to hoping JJ can actually make a good movie with 9. Would be a first though.

There's a lot of things that I could nitpick, but the biggest thing that makes me dislike 8 is that it renders the entire plot of the OT pointless. It doesn't matter that the Rebellion defeated the Empire, because the Empire is still around, and it's stronger than ever, just with a new name. Meanwhile, the Rebellion is actually in a worse position than it was at the start of 4. The world building in 8 was the worst in the entire saga IMO.
Plus Palpatine's replacement was killed off way too soon, and Rey's parents are nobody, so there's nothing connecting the new trilogy to the original 6 movies. Might make sense if Rey is Anakin's reincarnation or something, but I don't see them going that route. TLJ feels like a standalone film that had cameos from Luke/Leia/Yoda, it's too disconnected from the other films.

Introducing some borderline retarded space combat, making the plot and developments of previous movies irrelevant, completely ruining Luke, making Leia literally use noclip (which was funny, at least), and wasting my time with these stupid and pointless subplots (casino and mutiny) - these are just some of the major problems this movie has.
Technically it's not the worst Star Wars movie of them all. But it had the most potential and hype behind it, and it failed miserably. It hurts watching this happen to SW. Ep. 9 is my last hope.

Honestly I only watched the originals and the prequels. I just don't feel any interest in the reboots. The only way they would get me to watch them is to have Teal'c as the main character/jedi.

Don't worry. I'm sure Episode 10 will be a new hope.
Have to give it to Episode 7, i don't think it will ever be more than a botched Episode 4 remake to me.

The last jedi is beating out the winner of the last poll by quite a large amount. I knew a lot of people didn't like TLJ, but I didn't realize it was that much.
