Technical Issue jaMME crash

    Roughly every 5th demo (it can vary, but mostly 5th) I play in jaMME crashes it. It can either freeze it when i click "Play Demo", freeze on the loading screen, freeze on the loading screen and make it turn white, crash with the message "VM Create on UI Failed" in the external console window, or show an in-game message window with the message "vm create on cgame failed" (if you play the demo again after this in-game message it would freeze). There are no crash logs for this crash, only the external console messages are shown sometimes (the last screenshot might be another issue):

    This issue wasn't there before, two months ago, when I made my last video in 2016. It might have been caused by the patch 1.4.4.

    It has nothing to do with demos themselves. Every 5th demo (it can vary, but usually 5th) I play in one "run" of jaMME crashes it. The next time I run jaMME I can run that demo that crashed it normally, and then again the 5th demo I play will crash it, and so on.
    Here are some of the demos (I can't send all because of the forum limits):
    Try playing these seven demos one after another in one run of jaMME (without restarting jaMME) and see if it crashes. If after you finish playing all seven you don't crash, you can play them all once more to be sure. You don't have to play the demos from the beginning to the end, just load one and start playing it and then go back to the menu and play another.

    I just played (and recorded) 8 demos, one afte one, without any crash

    maybe it is something related with your graphic driver.

    Updated all my drivers to the newest version with "clean" installations (returned everything to default). Switched back the use of my high performance graphics processor from my integrated graphics. Played 10 demos, got no crash or error, thought it's fixed. Played the 11th demo, BAM!, the in-game error window popped up stating "VM create on cgame failed". Tried playing the demos a couple of more times, got the same error, then it crashed. This is the aftermath of the crash (these three screenshots are all one external console window, going like they are arranged (4 "VM_Create on cgame failed" in-game error message windows and then the ultimate crash)):

    I also see there is glGetError returns non-null value that is related to opengl driver actually.

    Might be that the newer NVIDIA drivers aren't compatible with the old 2003 JKA stuff. Anyway, if I need to roll back drivers, I'd rather stay with this bug than doing that.

    hey.. had same problem.. nvidia drivers i guess... Try to run game (whille launcher On in backround as usual) through mbii.exe, as administrator.. If it opens base jedi academy game, go : Setup/Mods/MBII... It should run.. Hope it helped you. Capture.PNG

    jaMME cannot be run through that. I guess that could be useful if I crash in MB2, though I still don't know if I do. I tried running start_jaMME_MBII.bat as administrator, it still crashes.
    That error can happen multiple times before the crash and doesn't crash by itself. It also doesn't have to happen right before the crash for jaMME to crash. I don't know if that means anything.     I'm using nvidia's driver version 376.60 without any crash on jamme but i'll update to 378.49 and test it again

    Could you also check if the game got out of RAM usage (4 GB)? Maybe there is a memory leak.

    That's exactly what's happening. For every demo played the memory would skyrocket by about 150 mb during the loading time (120-200 mb depending on the demo), and it would stay like that after, it wouldn't decrease. It would increase during the playing of the demo too, but much much less, by an inconsiderable amout when compared with loading time. Mine got up to 1141 mb and the next demo I played crashed the game.

    So each demo increased the use of RAM by 150 MB? Were you testing demos from different maps and with different models? If so, then it's expected - those got loaded and stayed in the cache. And still the game did not reached 4 GB limit anyways.
