This would be the first time I've received a complaint about the fix causing connection problems. I myself use it and haven't experienced any problems whatsoever. If you're still having problems, download the .zip package of the game from moddb and do a fresh installation that way.

Hugging was removed because it contributed to a glitch, you know which one I'm talking about, and not because it slowed gameplay down. And from what I've been told, you can still hug, but it can only be done standing still.

Pulse grenades, as far as I'm aware, do not prematurely detonate other grenades and rockets in the vicinity of the explosion. That would be my recommendation. Think if you've ever played Killing Floor, what the Siren's scream does to grenades and explosives, but applied to Pulse Grenades/Rockets.

Grip kind of works against SBD, but it's like trying to move a really obese guy with a forklift. Hilarious, but not very efficient. Using it on SBD's would probably be more of a detriment than ignoring it and hoping they don't wreck you outright.

You can download an older version of OpenJK, create a desktop shortcut and add +set fs_game "MBII" to the target field in the properties, then change the master server with seta sv_master1 master.moviebattles.org.
