    Its benefits outweigh its disadvantages. Even if you were to make a toggle macro, it's still pretty hard to make use of. The camera will always relocate when your player character is out of view.

    Just keeping tractor beam doors locked enables this in and of itself. Requiring someone to stand still for 10 seconds is a bit too much to ask just for opening a door.
